What This Site Is

PingPongInfo is an independent, ad-supported table tennis site built around six free calculators and a handful of guides on technique and equipment. There’s no federation, paddle brand, or league behind it — just a small site that runs on ads so the tools can stay free to use.

How the Calculators Actually Work

The Table Tennis Rating Calculator, the Win Probability Calculator, and the Match Handicap Calculatorall sit on the same foundation: the ELO rating system that chess popularised and that most table tennis leagues and rating bodies use in some form. Enter two ratings, a match result, and a K-factor (how many points a single match can move a rating) into the Rating Calculator and it runs the standard ELO update formula to show the exact points gained or lost. Feed a rating gap into the Win Probability Calculator and it runs that same gap through the logistic curve ELO systems use to convert a rating difference into an expected win percentage — the same math, just aimed at table tennis instead of chess. The Match Handicap Calculator takes that gap one step further and converts it into a points head start for a game to 11 or 21, so a lopsided pairing stays competitive; it’s a proportional handicap we built, not an official rule from any league.

The Round-Robin Scheduler and the Tournament Bracket Generatorhandle event formats rather than ratings. The scheduler uses the circle method — rotating every player but one around a fixed point — to lay out every round of a full round-robin for 3 to 12 entrants, working in a bye automatically when the field is odd. The bracket generator builds a seeded single-elimination draw, pads the field out to the next power of two, and hands the resulting byes to the top seeds first, which is the conventional way tournament brackets get built.

The Serve Practice Timerisn’t a calculator at all — it’s an interval timer. Set a work period, a rest period, and a number of rounds, and it runs a live countdown so a solo serve drill has structure instead of a stopwatch you have to babysit yourself.

What This Site Is (and Isn’t)

Every number these tools produce is an estimate, not an official rating or ruling. The ITTF, USATT, and various national and club leagues each run their own K-factors, rounding, and eligibility rules, and PingPongInfo isn’t affiliated with any of them — if a tournament or league rating is on the line, check with the organisation that actually issues it. The site also carries a Museum of Table Tennis and a Learnsection, a wiki-sourced reference collection drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. It has nothing to do with table tennis — it’s a separate, noindexed corner of the site for anyone who wanders in and wants to read about something else entirely.
