Among all the features that you should consider when shopping for a ping pong robot, it isn’t the most crucial.

However, it will be important if you are concerned with convenience.

If a ping pong robot is functional, then it will allow you to train and become better whether it fits 10 or 100 ping pong balls. However, you will need to refill a lower-capacity ping pong ball more frequently.

We’d say that you should first consider all the other features and focus on ball capacity last. We think that functionality is more important than convenience, but the final decision is up to you nonetheless.

Ball recycling system

Some ping pong robots – usually the more expensive ones – come with ball recycling systems that are designed to catch the balls that you’ve returned.

Usually, robots employ net systems to catch and store the ball. Then, you can collect the balls all from one spot rather than go and gather them from the floor.

This system can make your training sessions very convenient, allowing you not to waste time on refilling the robot and maximize the training time available to you.

Spin adjustment

Ball spin is present in any racket sport, and ping pong is no exception. It’s a phenomenon that many players will use against you, which means that you need to train to predict and reflect spin shots.

Virtually any ping pong robot is going to have some kind of spin adjustment capability.

Oscillation

Oscillation perhaps is the most desired feature in table tennis robots. What this feature allows is randomized ball delivery.

Cheaper ping pong robots usually come with horizontal oscillation where the machine randomizes the direction of the serve between each shot, making the shots less predictable and the training session more difficult.

More expensive models add vertical oscillation, as well as may randomize other ball settings like speed or frequency.
